Re: Correcting a spin / tailslide anyone managed it?
if you drive too fast for the conditions then it's likely that you will loose control of the car. It's not particularly difficult (imo) to control the back end of a rev2 tubbie, though I have 30 years experience of rear wheel drive cars (including some with 'lively' handling. Book yourself into a sk...

Re: newbie seeks modding help
I would (respectfully) suggest that (particularly if your experience is with FWD hondas) that any money you spend on tuning at the moment should go on a decent set of 15" tyres. Get a good bit of RWD experience under your belt before spending money on other mods: its easy to waste cash on modif...

Re: Imprezza vs mr2turbo
Although its now excluded under the regulations, a few years ago 4wd was legal in f1.
AFAIK there was only ever one occasion when a 4wd car won a gp.
All because of power losses and weight.

11.75 mm.

the tyre width is 235mm
a
'40' profile tyre has a height of 40% of the width
=255*0.4=94mm
a
'35' profile tyre has a height of 35% of the width
=255*0.35=82.25mm
difference is 94-82.25=11.75mm

expect the handling to be severely compromised

Re: engine bay roof rack
why do people always fit boot racks the wrong way round? The raised bar is not to stop stuff falling off the back of the car under acceleration, its to stop stuff sliding forewards under braking
(a much more violent force).

I've read that some unscrupulous souls bung a load of toluene in with the petrol to achieve an MOT pass.
I couldn't possibly condone such disgracefull behaviour.
Toluene is available in 5 litre cans from your local car paint shop.

have you changed the wheels/yres since the last MOT- perhaps you have the wrong rolling radius on front/rear causing the headlight aim to be wrong?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Failed MOT, help needed within 3 days!!!
Brake lights:it's unlikely to be anything other than the bulb, but have you changed the light assemblies? if so it could be a dodgy connection at the loom, but I'd try a new bulb first. Headlight aim: most MOT places will adjust this for you for a minimal charge, which may be the easiest solution. B...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] does 299.7bhp sound rite??
Rolling roads are not particularly accurate or repeatable. THe flywheel figure is little more than a guestimate since the wind-down resistance of a worn drivetrain is never the same as the wind-up resistance. In my opinion any tuner that quotes a figure as specific as 299.7 hp is misleading you: its...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] GTS and GT whats the difference???
yes thankyou and i thought it was utter crap. the TC is a hinderence and a restricion. it does not just "stop the wheels from spinning" it bloody cuts the power to a stupid level and takes ages to react. its ok you stick to your 15 year old TC  Perhaps the example(s) you have dri...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Would the dizzy king lead cause hesitation/missfire if foobed?
If it's worse when damp then the fault is electrical, and probably on the HT side. Next time the fault is showing up try selectively spaying the ignition system with WD40. When the fault goes away you have found the problem. The coil (together with the ignitor) is on the engine/boot bulkhead.. just ...

but the king lead IS a ht lead.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] GTS and GT whats the difference???
I think the cruise control option is fairly rare (I have not seen it on any of the 20-ish cars I looked at buying). The traction control system is pretty basic, it does not seem to react much faster than my right foot I think its well worth having as a safety feature, but I don't think it's going to...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] GTS and GT whats the difference???
I have had 2 rev 2 GTS models, and looked at perhaps a dozen cars each time I ought one. As faw as I could tell the only feature that GT's had, and which was absent from every GTS I saw, was the electricly folding mirrors. Both my GTS cars have had steerable fog lights, 1st one has reccaro seats/ al...
