Clutch dust sticks to the starter, causing the pinion to stick out after the engine has started. The important thing is NOT to rev the engine whilst its stuck. The cure is simply(!) to remove the starter, extend the pinion out and give a good dousing with brake and clutch cleaner.

Can I state the obvious and say Check that the wheel is tight?

It may sound daft but my mate was convinced his Driveshaft was on its way out, or maybe his wheel bearing.

I went round, jacked the wheel up and 2 of the 4 wheel studs had sheared off.
