Re: Claybaring question...
Gosh I've been doing it wrong. Thought the whole point of clay bar was that it lifted residue not left any behind. I wondered last time I used it what the difference was between Megs clay bar and the white version of blue tack you used to get was -because tactile they seemed to be the same? Also, I...

Re: Is this car a rev 2
It looks like a Rev2, the rubbing strips are a darker shade of the main bodywork, rev1's have a black rubbing strip and I cannot imagine someone would want to go to the effort of swapping to rev2's when for the same effort you could have body colour Rev3's.

Re: Anyone got my old MR2?
I was playing with that DVLA thing today to find your old cars and noticed my old MR2 is currently off the database for both tax & insurance- nor is it declared SORN or exported which unfortunately means it's been nicked or crashed (into?) Did anyone here own J31HGJ, a red rev2 tin top? It's sti...

Re: Bit of a race me V motorbike
Ok: the bike lap record for the 'ring was done on a 1988 Honda RC30 (7m45s), the nearest car is a Porsche GT2 with 7m46s. An Rc30, for those who don't know is a 100bhp 750- comparable with todays 600's. An MR2 or a Scoobie, in stock or even bpu trim, would get completely and utterly fecking wasted b...

Re: M3Vs Tubby
343 hp M3 .... that'll be one of the VERY few ones that actually made the quoted power figure for the car then ... It's the e36E that didn't come up with the goods, e46 is supposed to be bang on, but don't hold me to it. To 90ish i think it's a fair fight, but after that, 340bhp is 340bhp, no matte...

Re: Arent turbos sluggish when trying to drive off boost??
Keeping in theme of straying OT, why do some Souprahs have bonnet vents and some not..? It's a Euro afterthought following autobahn testing, they glued one on and added a carefully crafted scoop in the engine bay to transfer cold air down between the turbos and the block to add cooling. Having said...

Why do people think turbo owners can't drive on track?
30bhp vs 130bhp at Britains fastest track- a glorified airfield?????

I know for a fact a 320BHP+ MR2 driven properly can hang with 600cc bikes all day long especially as the speeds get into 3 figures!!!

I never heard a tubby owner say:

That settles that then!

Re: Help me choose my bodykit
What's with the "I covered my car in glue then ram raided Halfords" train of thought? Veilside looks like cheap (even though it isn't) packaging plastic. The red TOM's car is gorgeous. 'Factory Special' is where it's at, a refreshing change from the tat that's been stuck on cars lately- so...

Re: Arent turbos sluggish when trying to drive off boost??
It also makes me laugh that all the NA owners seem to think the turbo is such a lame duck on the bends. Its the same chassis and the turbo isnt a difficult car to drive IMHO. I suppose you have to keep telling yourself that to make yourself feel better about having a slower car. :D not really, iv...

I have a friend who had a Noble GTO3R, and still has a R1- except on a huge, open racetrack (like silverstone), he tells me the bike would p1$$ on the car under all conditions. Raced my brother recently (my Supra TT vs his R6), 40-100, i shouldn't have turned up really, i got murdered.

In the last 12-18 months, there has been a total slump in the jap market, the only things exempted being NSX's, 350Z's and the odd mint UK6 Supra, even the R33 & R43 GTR's have taken a hit!

Re: Curb weight of MK2 turbo?
i was always led to believe it was 1250kg for tintops and 1275 for t-bars. :-k Not at all, much more variance than that and more often than not far heavier too.. think somoene weighed a mk2 t-bar tubby and came back with nigh on 1400kgs! weigh your car tis only way. Did they have a dead body and a ...
