Re: Tyres again!!

The only thing I could think of was maybe where the car had been stood and with the heat they had gone out of shape. I don't use the car a huge ammount, but it always goes out at least once a week. I'm not sure if its possible for this to happen as it's not like the car was stood for years with flat ...

Re: Tyres again!!

Thanks for the replies guys, looks like it will be 195's all round then!! This is my second set of eagle f1's and I do really like them and they are awesome in the wet. The problem I had is the car developed a wobble at about 70mph, so I took the car in to have the wheels balanced and still no better...

Tyres again!!

Currently running mk 3 rims on my mk 1 and I have goodyear eagle f1's 185/55/15 tyres on them. Have had trouble with the Goodyears so going to try a change of brands. Next week Costco are doing 20% off their tyres when buying 4. The only thing is Costco only sell Michelin tyres and they are the pilo...

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 miss-shaped

The company who fitted and did the balancing are a superb firm, they fit all the tyres to the local police force cars and their fitters know their stuff. I was chatting to the guy as he was doing the tyres and he actually showed me what the problem was and did pre warn me that they might not balance ...

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 miss-shaped

Well it dosen't get a huge amount of use,but it's used at least once a week, maybe only 20 miles or so.
Prior to that the longest has been a fortnight when I went on hols, so no long term standing.

Goodyear Eagle F1 miss-shaped

I have mk3 alloys on my mr2 mk1, and about 18 months ago I had brand new eagle f1's fitted all round, 195/50/15. I have only done about 8000 miles since having them fitted and looking at the tread they only look just over half worn. All of a sudden recently the car developed serious vibration throug...

Re: max b.h.p. without forced induction?

My 88 mk1 is kicking out 139 bhp, bought off someone who had already done the work so saved me a fortune! To get that extra power a fair bit of work has been done, the main ones being:- Stainless steel sports exahust Induction kit Uprated fast road cams piggy back ECU with full re-map high pressure ...

Re: Windscreen Wipers

Bought a set of bosch ones for the mk1 from Halfords about a month ago. Also they do a converter kit to convert from the two screws to the hook system and with all this rain we have had mine have held up just fine!!

Re: Dyno run

Does anyone know a Stuart King??
I recently bought the car, but it used to be owned by a Stuart King who was the previous owner to the gent I bought the car off.He was a member of this website and he was the guy who did all the work on the car. Just wondered if he was still in the mr2 community.

Re: Dyno run

Yeah it is a fair bit to loose through the transmission, but I guess there are a fair few factors that can effect it. could have gained a few more more horses at the wheels apparently by doing another few runs and getting the gear box oil really hot and thin, but my ears had had enough!

Re: Dyno run

The cost would probably be a bit more than that, the chip is about 400 to 500 then the mapping of the chip about 400. Then you have the cams about 400 then they need to be set up to!!
I guess you could get it a bit cheaper especially if you didn't buy brand new.

Toyota wanted £15 for a set of 4 (not sure what make) but were out of stock so went to Halfords as I didn't want to wait for them to order them in.

MK1 oil filter size

Just a quick one, been to halfords to get a new oil filter so I can do a service over the weekend, but they have two oil filters listed for the mk1 a small and a large one, which one should I get? They both cover the same years so it dosen't seem like one is for the older blue top and one for the ne...

Quick release steering wheel

Recently had my mr2 stolen, but I'm defiantly getting another one as soon as my insurance pays out! The first thing I'm going to hopefully fit is a quick release steering wheel, has any one had any experience with these? Will they fit the mk1 and what would happen about the horn as its in the center...
