Sounds interesting I suppose, a way for them to get a bit more interest going.

On a slightly related note, are there any non Sony controllers around, that are a bit bigger and chunkier. I really dislike the Sony one, especially the bottom L&R buttons.

"The potential for new game types to be developed with the additional motion-sensing functionality should open up the PlayStation 3 to the sorts of gaming audiences that the Nintendo has been so successful at gathering with its Wii console."

I don't think it's gonna open up a new audience, the Wii sells well because it's cheap, cheerful and a novelty, the PS3 is still gonna be prohibitively expense in comparison. Although it may make it more appealing to the female audience (majority of whom don't like consoles, but like the Wii) That said, it might make a nice addition, will be like having an HD Wii for when your mates come around and you wanna play a silly game.
I don't think Nintendo have reason to be worried though, I doubt it'll impose on their sales.

I wasn't too sure on those either, until I started using them, they're *much* better for driving games compared to the old PS2 pad (being analogue you can feather brakes/throttle)
3rd party console controllers generally suck.

It's awful compared to its rival though. It's too small, I really dislike those 2 back buttons and the whole thing feels a little cheapish.

This is a good idea although I'm not sure how they'd fit on.

Don't like the look of those, I tend to use fingertips on edge anyway. My one gripe with them would be that they're too sensitive for my fat hands! e.g. darts in GTA, I keep touching R2 slightly and wasting my alignment time!

I just really really really dont like them.

They're too small and too many un-ergonomic shapes.

Madcatz do one but I cant see those back buttons from any pictures.

A lad in work got those off the front of a magazine and says they're great, Not bothered investing myself yet but i do find the L2-R2 buttons crap on the PS3 controller when they have to be held down for driving games etc. Can't understand why they didn't make them more like the 360's.

I do agree that the L2 & R2 buttons could really do with a lip to stop your fingers sliding off.

Not a massive issue for me with driving games purely because i tend to use a wheel.

I do wonder if the serious delay to the PS3 release was because they wanted to see what the competition came up with first then add to it.

I don't think Sony pretend otherwise.
Nintendo are free to copy Sony and make a kick-ass console, they clearly choose not to.
