Just bought a mk1 Supercharge :)

Post by Rev5GT »

Hi all,
Just got back from a 300+ mile trip (one way..!) and got myself a mk1 Supercharge - 87D reg, White over Silver and a T-bar roof :)

Imported into the uk in '98 and only had 2 UK Owners.. A few extra's: Koni Suspension, BLITZ Induction (in the boot...!!!??!!) Magnex Exhaust, Aftermarket 15" Alloys,

Overall in VGC for age however very little rust creeping up on the rear arch... 1st supercharger i have driven and got to admit the power deliver really surprised me.... didnt half shift :) :)

Rash.
p.s. needs some rear discs/pads.... any ideas as to where i could get them from - are they same as a UK model..???

Well done!

Yes they are same as the UK version - so brakes Int. I guess.

Yup - congrats! I'm guessing that was the automatic on eBay that was down South?

As Toni says, get the discs from Brakes International:
http://brakeparts.co.uk/
Standard discs should do. Brake pads - well, it depends who you ask and I'll let others come and wade in with that one... ;)

How did I miss that one? ](*,)

Knew there was automatics currently for sale in Devon and down South. I've been checking ebay, autotrader, mark 1 club, IMOC, pistonheads and sometimes MR2 Driver Club for nine months now. Drivers Club doesn't carry much usually, so only giving it occasional look ](*,)

Seriously, well done.

Yeah it shifts! does it have the oversized crank pulley on it for even more 'shift' :) if not get it fitted and do the ABV mod asap, then it really shifts. :)

I remember my first drive in my (at the time unmodified) sc I couldn't stop grinning...

There was one I almost went to buy in Downend?/Bristol 3rd March but then decided I didn't need 4 cars and spent the money on a pond.

I received photos from the seller and it looked rather good for the money! Is that the one?

cheers all - will get pics up tomorrow..
Having looked through the paperwork (and there's literally stacks of it) itys just last year had a competition clutch in it at the cost of £550 and then just over £1000 spent on maintenance stuff.....!!

Drove it about 310 miles and couldnt fault it all.....!!

Hiyup Rash 8)

Long time... Not seen you about since TOC days :)

Nice looking example their mate 8)
It might be worth asking the previous owner if an oversized crank pulley has been fitted along with the ABV Bypass mod. If this has not been done, expect a shed load more from the car 8)

Brakes... is a much of a muchness... Only think about serious pad upgrades if you're going to track it regularly. Other wise Redstuff will do you fine - buy through EBC Brakes Direct. TOC / IMOC discounts apply too
Brakes Int are good for OEM equivalent pads and discs. Just use OEM discs - really not worth upgrading these even if doing a lot of track days.
Best upgrade option even for road use is braided hoses. DOT4 fluid is fine for hard road use and the occasional track day or DOT5.1 for serious regular track.

Good to see you're still about :thumleft:
