timing belt worries

Hi there im wondering if anybody can help me. im new to mr2's and looking to buy 1' ive found a realy nice black 1 with 72000 miles on and i was wondering how many miles it should do before the timing belt should or should hav been changed and how much it would cost to be done. thanks for the help

should of been changed by now in my opinion, im sure its 100,000km or 64,000miles but not too sure, the engines are non interference anyway so you cant damage any valves etc if it snaps, you just retime it and fit a belt, but you dont really want it to be snapping either!

Yeah thats right, the 3sgt/ 3sgte's are safe engines, with enough valve clearance should the timing belt snap. the timing belts are about £30 ish from Mr-T, you should be able to get anyone to fit it and set it up cheapish.

If this is of any help; i got my timing belt (and alternator and air con belts) replaced a couple of months ago on my G-Ltd for £235 @ 61K
