ps3 officially more popular than xbox 360

Saw this on the tv this morning so thought i would post it up.

The ps3 has sold more units than the xbox 360 even though the 360 was launched 16 months earlier.

Thats mighty impressive imo

Thats cause there's too many Sony Brand Whores out there that will ALWAYS opt for a PS over anything else. Regardless as to whether it's better or not.

I havent read the article but all my mates that have PS3's assumed they were better before ever seeing one.

Just because it was a PS and they'd had a PS1 and PS2

Funny thing is, between all of them they have about 4 different games.

This is no reflection on the console but most of them will spend £300 - £425 (depending on when bought etc) to play Pro Evo and COD 4
Both games are the same on each console. But they'll buy the much dearer one because they are Sony slaves.

I went into this market with an open mind (didnt have an original Xbox and sold my PS2 quite quickly as I didnt like it) and ended up with both lol.

Fair comment and unfortunately as a result the games seemed to be increasingly tailored towards teh merkin market, which is a real shame.

Well merkinia is a big market i guess.

Actually have just sat through an hour or so of Sony's 'playstation day'... where they highlight all the new releases etc and talk about sales etc.

They were stating that the PS3 has sold 5 million units and has overtaken the XCox, despite the XCox having been released a year or whatever it was earlier.

But anyways Sam, as Goto10 pointed out there will be a lot of merkins who are into a bit of Bill and automatically selected the XCox.

Euro stuff interests me far more than what is going in the land of Bush and Bill.

yea they have overtaken the 360 in europe i never disputed that. they didnt mean overall tho. global figures must be nearly 20 million for the 360.

the PS3 has been outselling the 360 here for a while now i think. the asian market is letting them down it seems tho as thats normally there strongest but the wiis holding out (unbelievably).

Think its always interesting that people put so much faith in the stats being right. 95% of the time they are fixed to prove / dissaprove what ever the company / person wants to say or claim.

IIRC there was a big issue with Sonys sales figures. Being that they counted sales to retailers as units bought. Whereas MS were counting actual units sold to real people. You can see how that this would screw with the stats. Argos out in a order of 400 units and Sony claims thats another 400 users!

If the PS has over taken the 360 then why the hell do I only know 1 person with one? Discounting the peeps on here that is. Still reckon if you did a straw poll of users the 360 would come up trumps.

Also dont forget that Sony are trying to steal MS's thunder, personally I think PS are getting a bit desperate with their MS bashing / supposed bettering - could it be its not as rosy in Sonys world. Lets face it they have a lot to loose, how much di Blu Ray cost again?

Yes of course you can say the same about the playstation. Brand loyalty is a well known phenomenon after all.

Sure global figures are different, as we agreed we are talking about Europe. Thats where i live so thats the area i'm interested in.
