[Mk2] [Generic] Polybushes and Antiroll Bars. Recommendations fir the best to buy first please

Me Again,

Going to slowly upgrade (me being a self confessed ebay opportunist) the suspension components on the car to give it a tighter feel WITHOUT ADDING COILOVERS, before you all start.

I like my comfort and I don't want to feel the bumps any more than I already do. Plus my rear wheels stick out about 2cm past the arches.

Could you gents and ladies let me know what order you would suggest for polybush replacing i.e. which give the most noticeable differencs alonside antiroll bar upgrades and top mount suggestions.

Just want to give the car a tighter feel without making the bumps seem bigger. Mrfil has been a great help already explaining about koni's and that bushes won't necessarily make the ride any harder.

Also (pushing it I know) would you say it was worth the cost for road driving, bearing in mind that I have got some of fantastic roads about me.

I pollybushed my last car and didn't notice any difference in day to day commuter driving ,apart from more creaking and groaning, so to me was a waste of time,(my opinion anyway)
I would be more tempted to buy these if i was going to upgrade from my bilsteins

If your car is a Rev 1 like in your profile I`d say you will defo notice a difference with a polybush and ARB replacement.

I did mine a few years ago now but I remember the first time I drove it after doing the bushes (polyflex) and ARB`s (fitted whiteline`s) it was like driving a different car.

Even with 18`s fitted I`d say it handles 10x better than on stock wheels with stock suspension/bushes, I also have Tein Supers but were not mentioning coilovers

Have a look at High and Tight prophane bushes from twos'r'us. Supposed to be quite comfortable. Ive just ordered some for mine from the Yankee site. Only about £65 delivered or somethin. I'm not dead sure cos i ordered some ARP head bolts at same time.

i brought my arb from fensport a while back think they were 600 all in !
i brought poly bushes on old car thought they were xxxx ! just make you feel vibration more thats it have not used them on new car!

TRD ARBs, TRD bushes, TRD strut bars

Or any derivative, will certainly stiffen the car up without compromising ride quality.

Yep Rev 1, think they're all 18 years old too.

Bushes. Single most amazing thing I did to my car(s). You can get polybush sets quite easily I think too.

ARB's make a huge difference to how your car feels on the road I had a stock rev1 with the only change in suspension being a set of TRD ARB's and it was the best handling MR2 i've had

Forget bushes or coilovers get a set of ARB's you wont be disappointed

ARB's make so much difference when you put them on !!! you will love them!! don't get the poly bush thing ???? maybe it's because i got strut bars tein uppermounts arb bars then did polys ? just made it harsh vibrate ? did not put them on new car !

If you've got 10 year old bushes and you put on new polys the difference is amazing believe me. It's up to you!

If you get ARB's you get the ARB bushes as well so your some of the way there anyway.

Thanks to all,

ARB'S are the next ebay hunt then, with associated bushes, although twosrus are giving a set of Front Strut Bush Kits
away FREE, just gotta pay the £5.80 postage.

If I had a spare £200 then I'd defo go for the TRD shocks and springs though.....poo, anyone need a spare organ?

No mention of top mounts then, or are they specifically for coilovers??

Im sure you can get pillow ball topmounts that will work with normal struts but they are overkill for what they do for the price for a normal setup.

Replace the normal topmounts if they are dead but not much point if they are ok.

Fensport do Whiteline ARBs at £97 for front and £97 for rear.

Go for a full set of polybuhses.

Then add top mounts, swivels, drop links.

Then new track rod ends.

That lot will give you an awesome base, then and only then, should you think about shocks and springs to provide (in my opinion) the best handling MR2 for road/track use. I've rode in a rev2 tubby with that set-up, and i seem to remember the words "F**K ME!!" being said a lot.

A polybush KIT (16 odd bushes), not just ARB bushes really do transform the feel of the car. I have the high and tight ones from Peter @ sBits and can recommend them. Everything just feels tighter and grippier for some reason, with NO compromise on comfort.

ARB's will reduce roll (obviously) so are another great upgrade which shouldn't affect comfort too much. I still want a set of TRDs...

Yeh, well 2nd hand sets can be had for ~£260. Olly.dent on here recently got some from the states that are 24mm thick, and not that expensive IIRC TRDs are around 21/22mm!
