[Mk2] [Turbo] Koni`s anyone???

Post by Graeme Shaw »

Hi gang

Just fitted some standard struts with Koni inserts on the 2.
Any one got them on theirs?

If so how many settings is there? and which way do i turn them for hard or soft?

Cheers folks.

hi there

scientifically, there is an infinite number of settings, as the dial on top can be rotated about 720 degrees (ie twice round)

you should have got 2 white plastic knobs to adjust the strut, which shows which way is harder or softer. I keep one in the glovebox, another in the garage.

but I recall it is clockwise to firm the suspension, anticlockwise for softer (it screws something into the shock to reduce the flow of oil).

hth

do you have the standard springs?

I have the koni inserts with standard springs, only just got them fitted the other week and adjusted them from the softest setting last weekend.

Feels nice and firm but not rock hard, kind of just tight feeling.

I found that they are 2.5 turns, the backs i turned to the softest and then did 1 turn to hardest, the front i turned to hardest then 1 turn back.

Mine have eibach springs on. Think i need four whell alignment as it doesnt feel quite right. Then again maybe i just need to get used to them after having Teins on.

I have heard of having the back on the harder setting and the front on the softest?

I had konis on my yeloow REV3 before it spun off the road. Apparently they'd altered all the geometry of the car which cause a bad wearing of the tyres. Just to advise you of that. Don't think mine was set up right by the garage.

Anyway, I found that the 'softest' setting was too hard and if I turned it up then it was boneshaking. A little too hard for me even on soft.
