[Mk2] [Generic] Bonnet wind deflector

Post by xanthus400 »

hi all, right then i just bought a wind deflector that sits on the bonnet but not sure how to fit it. I dont want to just glue it in case the little bu**ers try n half inch it  Its good quality and really solid not cheapo fibre glass so could bolt it down somehow as well as some kind of high strength resin (just to make sure :) ) will post piccys later if it helps. I dont know what make it is. Its not the one that sits on the grills it sits over the washer jets spanning the width of the bonnet and is about 4"-5" in width
:-k :-k Any ideas :-k :-k cheers

sounds like the racedesigns one to me. sits near the top of the bonnet, angles air over the windscreen (and should help wiper lift at speed too !)

can't find it listed on ebay at the moment though.

spend £30 on a decent bonding agent and it won't budge or be knicked... :thumleft:

Hmm, where'd you get that from?
Is it a one-off? I've never seen anything quite like that before...

Na,

Defo not one off, same as the Race Design one, 100%, was thinking about getting one before chop-shop started doing their cowling.

Have a look at the one on GT4's (ST185, pop up headlight model, H to L plate).

Its on about 80% of them so not sure if its a standard part or not. Its a quarter the size of that, looks like a little spoiler, sits in the same place and actually serves a purpose - your wipers actually stay on the glass and work over 80MPH.

Am I alone in not really noticing wiper lift in the MR2? Especially not at 80.

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of the wind deflector from an aesthetic view point either in those pics.

I noticed it a lot on my previous MR2's but I haven't yet had the wipers on at great speed on this new one to notice.

By the way, WTF is that front 'bat spoiler' on ebay all about? Surely it must dampen the areodynamics, never mind being ugly as sin!

i found the most dramatic case of wiper lift at over 100mph, any faster and you just get a river of water up your window as the wipers don't do anything
