Xbox Elite - 3 Red Lights anyone?

Hi

Has anyone with a elite had the 3 red lights problem? I bought one the day the came out and after a week it gave me 3 red lights to my surprise so i returned it and bought one from another shop, tongiht i turned it on, started a game then it froze and gave 3 red lights.

It did this twice, now everytime i turn it on a get the red lights straight away, thought they had fixed this crap.

Anyone with similar problems?

Graeme, the easiest way to see if your elite is falcon chipset is to check the wattage on the barcode on the outside of the box.

If its 175 watts then its a falcon then xxxx knows whats going on. If its 200 watts plus (i can't remember the exact figure) then its the old chipset.

I think I remember something about the earlier elites being "oldskool" xbox.

We also have an elite which is a falcon but , A guy at my GF's work just bought an elite and his was also a falcon and it lasted 4 hours before going into meltdown(she only just told me this , think it only just happened) as in this week , waiting for her Elite to go bang now , good job Ive got my trusty ps3

This whole 3 red lights thing seems to be so random.

Some people go through multiple 360's where as (touch wood) mines been fine and is 2 years old.
My mates is about 3 years old and fine.

There must be some sort of circumstance that leads to them going wrong for some and not for others

I got RROD when my 'intercooler' fan kit started playing up.
Chucked it away and all OK.

There is something like a 17% faliure even with Elites, all due to MS not researching and testing enough when they rushed to create the 360 to beat Sony... unfortunately for us.

What you want to do is take it back, go into the shop and ask them to get you a one that has 175W on the box / label as this is a Falcon one. Also the PSU cord is different on the Falcon, the bit that plugs into the 360 is all plastic where as the older ones had like a metal sheild around it.


I also have a 1 year old Premium that has Never gave me any problems, putting it on Ebay today as I dont need it.

well now i have one i feel im safe to comment.


i stood in game for about half an hour the other day and jus couldnt bring myself to by any games.


warhawk is good and im sure the likes of MGS and GT5 will be great but everything else has been pretty dissapointing.

heavenly sword was pretty but thats about it. resistance single player was pretty bog standard stuff altho i didnt try the multiplayer and thats meant to be pretty kewl.

the PSN has about 12 demos too so theres not much to try either.


glad i signed up to love film so i can get my blurays (£30 for the departed in HMV )


edit - jus wanted to add that i think they should bring warkawk to 360. jus spent a couple of hours playing and its a great little game. specially to say it weighed in at a very lightweight 780 odd mb.

it needs the headset of the 360 tho cos nobody talks.

It is a great game but if its talking you want Fall of man online is more popular for chit chat

its a real waste really. warhawk can be pretty tactical in some gametypes as you probably kno and the fact that everyone has a mic on 360 jus makes it that much more fun.

i was playing CTF and it mite aswell of been a single player game as everyone jus goes back and forth to the flags by themselves.
