Mass Effect

Post by Bender Unit »

Has anyone else played this?

Totally blown away by this game, utterly fantastic. Admittedly I like games like this (Oblivion) but its so well polished, graphics are amazing and best I have seen to date in a game. Game play is excellent with good RPG detail and story line but then when it gets to the action its very much like GRAW / GOW with the over the shoulder style shooting.

Highly reccomended. Think I will be rinsing this one out for quite some time.

Cheers

I downloaded the trailer ages ago. Looks a bit complicated.

How does it play, IE what do you have to do?

It looks like it'll keep you busy for a long time any way.

Plays very nicley and its all very intuitive. Conversations and choices are easily done and you have a range of options to select from, so you can either be a proper cnut or a nice chap. Combat is very good in the game as mentioned its like GRAW / GOW when the shooting happens. You can explore planets, do side missions to the main quest. It dosnt push you down a set path wich is nice .

In battle whats cool is depending on your class you also have Biotic powers. Which means in the middle of a fire fight you can throw someone across the room or throw them up in the air (as well as doing lots of other stuff). For me its the ideal game a cross between GRAW and Oblivion.

Does look pretty good and got some good reviews.

I'm not into these RPG games and have stayed away from Oblivion because I know it'll drain my life!

Why do they not have playable demo's of these sorts of games?

Mass Effect AND Oblivion only have trailors.

Totally, lost many hours to Oblivion and its the same with Mass Effect - not getting to be until 3am some nights! They are totally awesome though you can really loose yourself. I cant put Mass Effect down and I will revisit Oblivion at some point again!

2 games for my Desert Island discs I think.

Why do they not have playable demo's of these sorts of games?

Probably becuase they are so sprawling you just couldnt get into it in the small space the demo would give you?

But at least it'll give you an idea of what it's all about and how it plays. I've never played an RPG !

Mass Effect is awesome!

i love the galaxy map and bombing round in the mako on the planet surfaces.

how you can choose what you say rather than it being set is pretty kewl too.

im currently getting my ass kicked by matriach benezia and her asari crew.

dont think i leveled up enough (by doing side quests.) before i got to her so i die in about 3 seconds everytime.

I think when I went up against Benezia I was level 47 - as I have done alot of side missions and also I am playing on the hardest setting. It helps to have her Daughter with you as she has alot of powers. I also use Ashley as she is pretty good in general assult.

Best move is to move straight up the stairs, attack the first commandos, then kove across and back to the guys that rush in from the other end. Use you powers if you have them.

im only level 18

it seems most people i speak to have done alot more than me before they got to her. think ill have to reload and go back to the citadel for some side quests.

Sorry got it wrong I was lvl 37. Still no reason to start over, the game levels against you so she should be no harder at level 18 than she is at 37. Who are you using in your team? Liara is good and Ashley is also a good one. Make sure you upgrade your teams firepower, level their skills etc thngs like throw and lift are awesome ways of getting rin of enemys or just leaving them to late - toss them into the air, kill some others and then pick them off as they float about. I am playing through again on hardcore now ;)

I love this game - on my 3rd play through on Insanity.

Do everything, check everything, buy and sell and make sure you level up including your team - also make sure you upgrade your teams weapons when you pick up spare decent weapons.

Liara is a good companion - as she has strong biotics, and if you control her biotics (rather than allow the computer to do it) you can use her to really good affect - but weak weaponry. Plus she is an easy lay ;)

Ashley is also good with strong weapons skill and armour so makes a good back up - but no biotics.

Kaiden is ok but needs to level up a fair bit before he stops dying every 5 minutes - relativley weak weaponry but good biotics once leveled.

The Krogan is awesome once tooled up with some decent battle master armour and weapons - also has strong biotics so once they are leveled he can be really powerful.

Havent bothered with Tali - high tech skill so gives you the ability to crack into protected crates, but Kadien also offers this and ismore equipped for battle.

Vallus - is also a good all rounder.

I personally made my charater split by biotic and wepons and TBH its a really good combination (usually works in all these sorts of games - Oblivion etc). Once I leveled the right skills / biotics I was pretty good in all fights. On my second play through I had leveled up alot, had very strong biotics and also had the spector weapons which had very high hit counts etc - but I cant use the auto rifle and sniper. Still nothing cooler than throwing the enemy across the room, off a cliff or just levitating them into space (do the levitate in the open - and just watch them fly - then plummet to the deaths) :D

Truley is an awesome game - also depending on what charaters you use you get differing stories - each charater has a side story which you can complete.

Personally cant wait for Too human and Fall out 3!
