When I take my car to say 6000rpm , I get a weird like humming/ringing noise coming from around the gearstick/front dash area. What is it? It's putting me off taking the revs any further

hope not...Took the gear gator off while driving, 3rd gear 6000rpm and the noise got louder, so its something vibrating around there.
will investigate further
