Engine mounts

Post by cantfindausername »

Just wondering if there are any pro's or cons to having solid engine mounts?

The only one I can think of is that the engine wont twist on the forward back axis under hard acceleration, and that means that there is no energy wasted.

Is that about right?

i have powerflex urathene bushes on front and rear mounts which stops the engine moving as much so puts the power into moving the car rather than rocking the engine, but rattles the f*** outa the cabin on tick over. which im my opinion is quite relaxing.

Yeah solid ones (if there are proper solid ones) would rattle you soo much your eyes would fall out of your head. Lol. Go for poly bushes. You'll still rattle around though

Ant, you only want to do the front and back mounts. The side mounts transmit lots of vibration so leave them stock.

If you go to Machine mart they sell Polyurethane in a tube. Basically just squirt this stuff into your exiting mounts and leave to set - cheap solid mounts for £10! I have done one of mine and its like a rock now, but still with some rubber flex.

Cheers

Excellent. Cheers James. It was your spec that made me wonder about them.

Thanks to all you guys.
