how to drive an auto mr2 1995?

Post by dj hammy »

hi lads, im also registered on mr3oc.com, but they didnt really know what I was on about.
Im getting a 1995 Mr2 non turbo jap import auto transmission during the week.
Could someone please give me an idea on how to drive it? as regards the manual button, the power button and the little red button? also what does the damn L gear mean? any help would be appreciated before I wrecked the Auto transmission.
PS I've never driven an auto before,

Basically,

Put it into drive and use your right foot for both accelerator and braking!
Your left foot goes on the rest plate in the footwell.

Power mode makes the accellarator more sensative and "kicks down" easier, and allows the car to rev up to the redline.

Manual mode just changes the gears up quicker, more like a manual in a car.

I usually keep it in normal mode, and when i want to overtake, or fancy a bit of fun on quiet roads i use the power button. Hardly ever use the manual button, but its good for in snow, as you dont spin as much.

The little red button is for using when you want to take the car out of "park" when the ignition is off, but dont want to start the ignition. You press the brake, the button on top of the gear stick, and the red button, and you can change the gears.

Hope this helps,

Well kind of, basically you have normal (econ?) and power and of course you can shift manually where it'll hold the gear you are in.
