Anyone got actual proof of engine weights of our beasties? I'm looking at throwing my GT4 kit into a kit car but dont want to end up with a car as heavy as the GT4 at the end of it I can cram in a rover V8 at 144kg and having had mine out on a crane I'd have put it up near the same weight!

well the celica 3sge is listed at 293lb so thats 133kg.
the list does say that the weights could be with all the fluids filled and ready to run or could just be the weight of a bare block.. or anything inbetween.
so i dont know how useful that data is to you but it gives you a rough idea of how much weight the lump and possible some of it other workings are going to add to your kit car.

well thats a starter, cheers! I'd suspect that its probably the built-up weight but not inc accessories at a guess. As I say I had a large engine crane struggling with the engine and box/xfer of the GT4 so its no lightweight. Its a shame its so heavy but I guess thats why its so tough. Hmm it does throw my wondering into a world of confusion though! I do like the grunt and roar of a v8.... lol. Cheers for your help!-

the 3sg isnt the lightest block on earth as its iron not alu. somthing like an sr20 is much lighter.
but i happen to know that the soarer 2.5 twin turbo lump is lighter than a lot of other engines, but i dont have the numbers for that. just the soarer v8, being between 464 and 470lbs about 210kg+
