Where is my amp located?

Post by skytek »

Hi chaps! Thought I'd ask this here as no one replied to it on the ice forum.

I finally got my sony stereo powering up in my new 1992 rev2 n/a but I get no sound

The car has the active system but I don't know where the amp is located in the car. Anyone know where this is? I want to check it's still working. I know where the subs are - behind the seats but the amp eludes me.

Thanks for the help.

yeah i've wondered the same too #-o

I fresh wired my replacement CD player to my door speakers only, for the time being coz i couldn't get my head round the active wiring arrangement, even after studying wiring diagrams on here.

Yeah you can get £30 connectors but they aint no good if you've just got a cheap £50 CD/radio player without the other aux outputs needed.

Mind you, i've still got a wierd problem with my audio now...
It's wired using the +12v and ground from the original loom and i've run 2 new pairs of speaker wires to the door speakers (removed original wiring from them speakers) but if i switch CD player on while car is running, power works to it but no audio comes out! If i switch player on without engine on it all works  and still does when starting up and running but only if i do it in that order!!

WTF is it all about?

The amp for one of the subs (if 2 are fitted) is in the cubby, the amp subs have L and R on them. The amp for the active speakers (and the other sub) is next to the seatbelt reel behind the plastic cover under the window, passenger side.

Right, I found the amp located as above but it's pretty awkward to get to. Do you know how to get at the fuse to replace it?
