Mk1 T-bar front strut brace

Post by dasher »

Just a quick question. I read somewhere recently that all mk1 T-bars have a front top strut brace fitted as standard to aid with ridity. Is this true? as my 87' t-bar doesn't have one.

Cheers

Yes its true.

Not sure where your one has gone. Is there any marks around the top of the struts where one might have been?

Its a common practice to put strut braces on coupes for added stiffness, i have done this with my car. Maybe someone has had yours? ;)

Thanks for the replies.

There doesn't appear to be any marks on the strut tops. I only realised last week from e-bay that there's also supposed to be dust caps on top. I assumed because it's a fairly clean environment under the bonnet that none were required.

So it seems i'm missing the strut brace, the dust caps and the plastic trim to all the gubbins. (i've acquired the last two items).

Yeh i've seen the brace on e-bay & i've got loads of items from the seller, so i'll try bidding on that. It has to be an original, because i'm restoring the car to original spec.

Cheers
