[Mk2] [Turbo] Blown knock sensor after boost increase and popped hose.

Fitted my MBC disconnected my VSV, cranked it up slowly till I thought I would hit fuel cut but that didnt happen.

So I kept going to 14/15 PSI and left it there very happy.

Car was runnung fine for two days then I get a warning light and a knock sensor failure. Code 52.

It appears that my car did not like the combination of a boost increase and a loose mikala clamp on the bottom of my IC, resulting in a blown knock sensor.

Anybody else heard of ths happening or am I just the unlucky one.

Checked the knock sensor but it has no strange rattling or continuity through pin to body.

Oh and will a 3SGE knock sensor do the job on my 3SGTE, co`s I tried one and it gave the same fault.

i aint unherd of to blow a knock sensor, u sure its blown and just not detected knock

so why is it not hittign fuel cut, you got some sort of FCD on the ECU or in it?

Hello corps,

Well I reset ECU and it was clear of codes, drove 2 yards n light came back on again, fitted my 3SGE sensor did the same thing, gonna put the "broke one" back on again and see if its sorted now I found the popped hose.

Not sure about the fuel cut thing (not got any FCD fitted as far as I know and can see)I well into the 17PSI+ at one point when I turned it to far on setup and then put it back down again.

What you tink??

hm i thik the knock sensor is detecting knock for some reason and maybe not the sensor fecked

as for 17psi an not hitting fuel cut, you sure you got the MAP sensor connected as some people disconnect this as a cheap way to up boost with out an FCD (i think its MAP anyway)

try another known good knock sensor and see what it does

Crazy knock senors

I am pretty sure my MAP sensor is connected as I have got dash boost gauge working and it does that too.

Which one is it just to confirm?

Anybody got a spare knock sensor laying around that works??

as you stand at the drivers side near the bay its on your left attatched to the fire wall to the boot, near the diagnostics mate

Well at the moment for £120 toyota can like my b@lls.

You know if a 3SGE sensor will do the job o.k?

Funny I thought the same thing and they dont work very well either.

I drove 3 mile with a big end missing in my N/A and it didnt pick up any knock. Just the oil pressure light n a loud clonking.

I've blown 2 uprated knock sensors, first one was due too to much boost...... second one was due to me fitting the new knock sensor incorrectly (never tightened it up fully)

If after 2500rpm your engine managment light comes on then your knock sensor is blown.
