[Mk2] [Turbo] How can I track down my old love (an MR2 Turbo!!!)???

Post by Sub_Culture »

I sold my pride and joy of an MR2 Turbo about four years ago, and am a MR owner once again. Although, I must say... its not my old car, and I really miss it.

Is there any way I can track down who would own the car now? Called the DVLA, but due to the data protection act, they couldnt help me... not even if I wrote them a letter, would they forward it on.

Doubt the owner is a member, but what else could I do?!

Andy
I trust you no longer have the details of who bought the car. So all you can do is post on ALL the MR2 forums a picture and registration number and hope that somebody who knows the cars whereabouts gets in touch.
Good luck in your search.

Thanks, guys. The registration was G379 FBL. Rev1 Tubby

I sold it to a guy in the Oxford area, but this was four years ago. Alas, I no longer have his number.

The car had a Veilside front and sides, unknown Japanese rear bumper, really nice unknown rear wing, Rev3 lights, full rollcage, lots of tuning goodies, twin Departure exhaust, very very low, 17" Antera wheels. I really did love the car to bits!

Have one photo (typically, I have lost all the other ones, absolutely gutted), but its at work (still blue tac'd on my desktop, sad,eh), so will bring it home tomorrow and scan it in!

Strange, those tw@#s usually give any info away, for a meagre £2.50 and a packet of pork scratchings!

Good luck with the search fella :thumleft:

after 4 years away in the hands of others, theres a good chance the car would have changed. the new owners could have changed anything or everything. and if they havent it may be lookin a bit tired and worn by now . which will disapoint you when you get it back. personally i'd look for a new car and modifie it to your taste.

some things are best kept as good memories.

And rightly so, they shouldn't be giving away personal details unless it's for law purposes.

From the DVLA site: :(

The enquiry is complete

The vehicle details for G379 FBL are:

Date of Liability 23 04 2005
Date of First Registration 15 09 1999
Year of Manufacture 1990
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2000CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour BLUE
Vehicle Type Approval null
The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry.

So she's either off the road (and has been for the last 2 years), scrapped or being run without road tax. :(

Not sure but does the DVLA record a change of registration? If a private plate's been put on will this be recorded?

Thank you very much for going to through this trouble. Sounds like its either off the road (unlikely to come back after two years) scrapped or POSSIBLY a private plate? Thank you again.
