My rev1 turbo, not quite finished.

Post by dai21t »

Here are some pictures of the rev1 turbo I have owned for the last 15months. I bought it with the intention of doing the basics to it as a cheap winter project, but it just seems to be never ending, as a result I haven't used it once since I bought the thing!
I sold this car (rev1 G-Ltd) when I got it:

It was a good car but a little slow.
I replaced it with this, which to be honest wasn't much faster and nowhere near as good condition:

These are the only pics I took of it when I had it first, just a standard looking red MR2.

I've worked on it on and off since then, when time and cash allowed, with a lot of help from my brother who has done all the bodywork for me. I took it to the bodyshop on Thursday for the outside to be done in a booth (all bumpers etc were done seperately last week),

And this morning I had the call to come and pick it up so here's how it looks now :

All thats left to do now is bolt all the parts I've got up the attic on to it and it should be nearly ready to go, its only the turbo kit from Tim left to get and engine management from Rogue.
I'll stick more pictures on as it comes together.
Its been done in BMW Phoenix yellow, the colour of the new M3's.

Done a bit more today, fitted the front Tein coilovers, powerflex front anti roll bar bushes, underbody brace, rear bumper and rev5 spoiler. Replaced all the other bushes with powerflex items previously.

nice.....it'd be cool to see it in the flesh, mine is nearly back on the road, and as your only down the road (i'm in mumbles) it'd be a shame not to go for a spin towards the summer.

Not much done to the car today, just fitted the rev3 rear lights and centre panel, high level brake light and surround, tbar seals and some interior bits and pieces.

Smiffy

I was going to do the Llandow trackday but someone drove into the RS2000 outside the house this week, just waiting to see if the insurance write it off, save me trying to sell it anyway! If I can keep it I'll do the trackday providing spaces are left, should know this week. May break it for spares then.
Did you sort the power steering out on your car?

I was happy he drove into it, was going to try selling it but easier if it gets written off. Only problem is I managed to drive into the back of a corsa earlier, so now have to repair the front before the car get seen by an assessor. Gutted!!

As for turbo I'm hoping to get one of Tims kits, will probably go for the 3071 or 3076 external wastegate when they're ready.

Bought new windscreen for it today so will try and fit that tomorrow, changed the dash, refitted some trims and began the alarm and stereo install yesterday, its starting to take shape now.
