I'm not sure if I should get it fixed up first, or whether there's no point moneywise, or should I be looking at selling to someone for parts???It's K reg MR2 GT2.0 T Bar.
The only time I've had the AA out since I bought it in 1999 is when the battery died because I needed a new one (because of the door-open switches being tempremental and I kept leaving my headlights on). It's taxed until end of May and MOT runs out then too. The T-Bar seals are fine and don't leak. The exhaust is the big thing that will need doing if it is to pass its MOT next time if anyone's interested in running it as a car. It'd be nice if someone wanted it to keep it on the road but I just need to get shot of it - I don't have any parking for it so it's sat at work. If anyone wants it to run or for parts, I'm open any offer btw - I might just chuck it on ebay- I haven't honestly got a clue what it's worth but I do need to just get rid - work won't put up with it being parked there forever. It has done 135,000 miles
List of things I know are wrong with it:
One of the wing mirrors was connected up incorrectly so when you use the electric adjuster up-down is left-right and vice-versa.
Leaking valve stem oil seals
- result is tiny loss of oil and slight puff of discoloured exhaust when starting up if left unused for a long time (not worth fixing unless you've got the cyclinder head off) Some of the plastic armour sheets on underside are missing
(drove through a huge "puddle" on a flooded country lane - possibly rather quickly - which took 2 off). One of the front headlights is stuck in the up position.
Dint over rear wheel arch

(being plastic) discolured at different rate from rest of car - probably the same for all MR2s. Rust bubbles noticable on roof at top corner of windscreen
- both sides - worst side shown in photo. Driver's seat is a bit knackered
- shown in photo - seen worse on MR2s - passenger seat is OK. Boot liner is in a bit of a mess and has come away at back from the car body.
Thing that holds the engine compartment lid up when open has a clip to keep it tidied away when closed.
Clip is broken - currently using twisty - didn't do that engineering degree for nothing you know:-) Interior in general need of cleaning.
It's still got the original alloys so they're somewhat tarnished these days.
And last but not least
- the biggy - am reliably informed by my mechanic it will need a complete new exhaust system. It's been sat in the car park at work since October and needs a tune up
- was rough when I tried it the other day - but was OK before. Should be minor and I'd expect to fix this before selling.The switches the tell if the doors are open are worn and sometimes need flicking to make them work again
- with the result that the warning buzzer that tells you you've got the door open but the lights still on doesn't warn you. Images should be availale here
