LSD question

Post by TheRed2 »

As the title said, does my UK Rev3 has got LSD? I have read some articles said the LSD comes as standard starting Rev 3 onwards, but not sure on Turbo Version only or not? Cheers!

I would imagine Tubbies only - my UK rev5 didn't have one so i wouldn;t think your rev3 would either.

Not as standard. Tubbys only.

The owners manual for the UK rev5 says it does have LSD, although it does fail the 'jack the car up and turn the wheel' test :-k Apparently the Lexus IS200 Sport that has LSD also fails this test though.

I'll bet it doesn't have an LSD. do the other test, full steering lock, drop the clutch and see if you end up pointing the other way.

I'm pretty sure its the 'Torsen' type LSD that works like this - it only starts to lock once it is 'loaded up', and will act as a normal diff for the 'spin the wheels' while jacked-up test.

Positive my old Rover turbo coupe did this - they have a torsen type lsd on the front wheels to try to handle all the power (200bhp through the front wheels!). Normally when you turned one wheel by hand the other would turn the opposite way; but they definitely all were fitted with an lsd.

Guess the only easy way to tell is to put a few revs on and dump the clutch... if you get two black marks on the road you've got an lsd... if you get one, then you haven't. The other one is to look at the gearbox code (is it on the chassis plate like my Supra TT? You can work out from that what type of diff is fitted).

Quite right - I've just looked at my Owners Manual.. and it does say it's fitted with an LSD ! #-o

But you are also right in saying it fails the "turn one wheel and the other turns also" test.

:-k
