HDR pics

Post by MRV6 »

My mate Jay's (jevansio) been getting a new camera sexy bit of kit it is too! So he brought it along and his supra along for some pics. Any how he's done some HDR pics (High Dynamic Range).. Basically you take three pics high resolution, low resolution and normal. Then you mix the pics together bringing in the colours and the various light tones, well summit like that. The effects are stunning.

Looks fake, yet artists impression, yet clear and crisp, yet blurry all at the same time.

What camera was it?

Interesting :thumleft: But gotta say i prefer a more natural look to HDR images.

If anyone wants to have a go themselves there is a guide here. All you need to give it a stab is a camera that supports AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing), a tripod, and a copy of Photomatrix.

Edit: there are a lot of HDR examples on this link in case anyone is interested. Although obviously an MR2 is a better subject to take pics of than most on there.

Interesting effect you've got there and nice pics.

I'd normally go for a more 'natural' feel - you can still use HDR to bring out extra detail in dark tones - eg use it to bring out more depth in the shine/reflections of the black paint on those cars..

Still nice subject and camera to play with there :thumleft:

wow, those pics are AMAZING!!!!
i work in CG, and have to say them pics look CG for sure, lol, very clever indeed!!!

the background almost looks untouched, hense the cg car feel, as only looks like the cars are effected by that filter thing your using.....

big wow!

nice cars to!

Thanks Jim, yeah the background looks normal and the cars look CG. Very clever effect. Jays had the camera less than a week, so he's still experimenting. Also the camera was hand held so there is a little ghosting, but I think that adds to the effect. He's going to purchase a tripod this week.

Here's some sceinic pics he took.
