HELLO !!!!

Post by xr_greg »

Hello people
I am new to this forum and I am really interested in MK2 MR2s I currently own a 1987 Ford fiesta xr2 (dont laugh), I am interested in buying an MR2 and have seen a few but am unsure as to what I am lookin at.
I have a certain criteria that I want in an MR2 it has to have leather,T-bar,be a uk car and have the larger spoiler at the back =P~ .
I have got a budget of around £6000 max do you people think that is do-able for a nice Mr2 or should I save a little more.
I saw one at a dealers recently which was lovely it was black with reg P149 VGJ the dealer reckoned that the guy who owned this car was an enthusiast, after lookin at it I was in two minds then when I had decided it had already sold  .
There is also another for sale reg R324 GPN this is just a normal gt cloth trim and sunroof it has 57000 miles and the chap wants£5495 I really like this it has 17" alloys but I am unsure as I feel I would be gutted not having the leather and the T-bar.
so can anyone tell me the pros and cons of the two different variants of MR2..
Cheers Greg

Good luck in your search. :)

I got a MK2 Rev 1 1990 with TBar etc for under 2k. You should find something nice for the price you are looking at. For a N/A I would go for the T-Bar 8)

Model history and buying guide for N/A's below.

You'll get lots of people in a moment who will try and presaude you to go the Turbo route !

Hey Greg,

If I were you and because I've been there already, hold out for the t-bar. £6k is a good wad of money and should get you a good example of an N/A.

Re leather seats, you can upgrade these later if you can't find a car with them.........

I'm selling my '98 N/A with sunroof in superb condition just to get one with a turbo and a t-bar - only had the N/A 10 months but I've had itchy feet for a while!!

Good luck!
