[Mk2] [NA] Urgent help needed with immobiliser

Post by JOHNM400 »

Went out last night and the car was running perfect.Parked next to a wall with the drivers door so i had to climb over to get out.My central locking only works if i lock from the drivers side so i put the lock on the drivers door from inside as i climbed over and then locked the passenger door.

Went to the pizza shop, came back and unlocked the passenger door and climbed over and tried to start the car and nothing. All i get is oil pressure light and handbrake light but no battery or engine management light. At first i thought the battery was dead as i can hear a faint click from a relay at the front and the clock goes dim but no other lights dim. Ive checked the fuses in the front and the ones in the back and they all look fine. I dont suspect the starter motor as im not getting any battery light or engine mangement light so its as though ive messed up the immobiliser by locking the doors a weird way.

Is there anyway to totally reset the factory alarm/immobilser or even just by-pass it all together? the car is a 91 UK rev 1 t-bar. Ive tried various locking/unlocking combinations of the doors and disconected the battery for 10 mins but the engine electrics and the starter circuit still dead.

Cheers in advance,John

what sort of immobiliser is it?
sounds like what happens to my toad when i forget to lock the car - it goes in to a safe mode so the engine can not be started and i have to press the 2 big buttons on the fob at the same time to activate it
