Anyone want to get involved in organising an IMOC trackday in 2007?

Post by anna »

Let me know!
I am currently 'speculating' on ideas and dates.
If you would be willing to organise a day, let me know either by pm, or reply here, and i'll invite you to the organisers forum ;)

I normally organise them Jon.

Want Angersea but can't get the dates for a little while yet, because it depends on how the new circuit progresses.

Nothing concrete.

Really open to people wanting to help/get involved. For instance, this year we had the Anglesey day early in the year, and on top of that Cosmosblue and bender unit (anyone else? ) organised something off their own back - just want to get any keen people on board to help/organise, but also give them support.

Sorry, i've been chatting with Ben about an IMOC day for some time now hence name dropping him.

Perhaps you could organise a donnington event or something a bit more central. Sure, a lot of people travelled to anglesy but that really is a once a year event due to distance and not everyone is willing to travel that far.

Edit: And you were replying to Jason, not me above this post!

Anglesea is all very well but its a right trek for most people, I think there are loads of circuits better suited for a day out in terms of location.

Donington, Oulton, Silverstone and Bedford are all prime candidates I think.

Im sure Steve (mr2only) would be up for doing some sort of coverage/collaboration in the new year too, especially as he has the MK1 to get track ready and will want an outing at some point!

If we're talking about central circuits rockingham should be included instead of oulton as that's no better than anglesea for some.

Forgot about Rockingham, wouldnt mind doing that.

Oulton is extremely central if your coming from Scotland. And its an excellent circuit.

Magney Cours is extremely central if you're coming from germany but the majority of us aren't 8-[

That said... now there's a track I'd really like to drive. One for next year for sure, do a eurohoon weekend and include spa and a few laps of the 'ring as well.

Well who is most of us, if you look at the UK the Oulton isnt far away from the middle.

Actually Magny Cours is a bit Meh tbh. Dijon-Prenois is much better. Spa and the Ring are legend though.

Coming back to the matter in discussion.

Oulton = great track maybe not a newbie venue though.

Boringstone= its erm, well err a bit boring.

Donington = great location (ie its central for most) interesting enough track and what really goes in its favour is that its not an airfield, so its great in comparison to that, but its not so special when you compare it to the other non-airfield tracks like cadwell and oulton for example.

Rockingham is better than it looks (banking is crap tbh) but the quirky infield circuit is pretty technical. International layout i've driven a few times, its not bad, though there is a bit of a legend that the national layout is better because of the corker of a left hander round the back.

Farmer Palmers, good if you can get the GT circuit. Wouldn't bother with the West circuit tis a bit boring really and like any airfield pretty featureless too.

I.e. Its a bit of a boring point and squirt circuit. Might be fun in a F1 car, but apart from the first couple of corners its a bit of a hairpin, long straight, hairpin type circuit.

And no i cannot get a warning for that.

Hey Jon,

We did chat a little at the Perfect Touch RR day about some of the potential plan for trackdays for 2007 ( which haven't been specifically announced / publicised here yet) but we're also interested to see if there are specific circuits people would like to drive...

Ben
