the [mk2] etc things in general etc

Post by ^Trickster^ »

Whats going on with these? makes the forum look ridiculous when you go into it now, I dont really think these are neccesary, tho people obviously think they are.

Would it not be easy to make sub sections for general, turbo, na, etc. Just dont see the point really.

I know some people dont mention if its a turbo etc, thats why subsections could be better

Stuff gets missed in subsections. It was a way to allow people to see the topic content clearer from the index.

The are only required in technical sections.

Noted. I might decrease the font size for that bit to make it a bit easier on the eye. But overall we feel they add benefit.

Shame users don't use the most appropriate sections. For example...

[Mk2] [Turbo] aerial unit (rev2)
[Mk2] [Turbo] hand break cable
[Mk2] [NA] LEAKING T-BAR MR2

Agree it looks awful when scanning the forum, but separate forums would be no better.

Just drop it (IMHO of course)... the yahoo groups posting rules related to a totally different browsing experience.

Its to try improve the subjects. They have been terrible of late. Things like help me. I have a problem.

I want to keep a way to indicating the specific MR2. Take you comments and will see what we come up with.

Tottaly agree, Not a big fan of all the bracket stuff. Looks a bit of a mess.

Perhapes get rid of the mk1/mk2/mk3 brackets and just keep it short like [na] [tub] [gen] or [sc]

Nice and short and keep the tags small.

it dosnt really matter if its a mk1 mk2 mk3, alot of had engine swaps anyway so mk2 turbo owner could help a mk1 turbo owner anyway.

Where as if a na owner see a turbo tag then they probably know its not worth them looking at if it involves something only turbos have and visa versa.

Good idea just not how its been put into place at the moment..... far to much on screen, keep the tags short imo :thumleft:

Edit* or just keep the mk1 mk2 mk3 tags and do away with the turbo,na etc tags.

Why not have a little icon to represent the mk it applies to? It will convey the same information in less space, and may even look more attractive, especially if you can work the little turbo boost icon into it! *edit* Then maybe you could have an option in the user profile to turn the icons off?

I'd be more keen to replace the dismal feedback smiley Image with something a little more upbeat, even if it's just this one: :?: . All that grey down the side really gets me down!

Keep up the good work Esmond! :thumleft:

The square brackets hurt my eyes, its horrible looks a right mess. I did a search on square brackets as I thought I can't be alone thinking how awful they are, glad i'm not alone.

I have to agree. I haven't spent as much time on the forum as I normally do, as it looks a complete mess. Hard to scan through and in my mind, completely unnessesary.
