i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it has got a TRD sticker on it somewhere to justify the TRD MR2 tag

Maybe because people were on at him to get photos, so he got them asap. Its not difficult to figure out.

And also..

Toyota Racing Development or TRD is the in-house tuning shop for all Toyota, Lexus, and Scion cars, which are Toyota brands and domestically branded as such in Japan. TRD is responsible both for improving street cars for more performance and supporting Toyota's racing interests around the world. They participate in the All Japan Championship Series, JGTC, and American CART series, and they have a Formula One team.

There are currently three official branches of TRD: TRD Japan (aka Toyota Technocraft), TRD USA, and TTE (Team Toyota Europe) by Toyota Motorsport GmbH.

TRD Japan's Race Division concentrates on the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship Series (JGTC), All Japan F3 Championship Series, ESSO Formula Toyota Series, and Netz Cup races (Altezza Series and Vitz Series).

TRD USA's Race Division concentrates on Championship Off Road Racing (CORR), NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Grand-Am Cup Sports Touring, National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Import Drags, and starting in 2007, NASCAR Nextel Cup and Busch Series. Former concentrations include the Baja1000, and Toyota Atlantic Series.

Toyota Team Europe concentrates on Formula One World Championship Racing (F1). Former concentrations include the World Rally Championship (WRC).

There are also plans by Toyota Australia to introduce the TRD division in Australia with the first vehicle being the supercharged Toyota Aurion V6 then possibly followed by high-performance variants of the 4WD Toyota Hilux and the Toyota Corolla. TRD is aimed to compete with local in-house tuning shops FPV and HSV.

Where in that is any proof of this mans car not being a trd?

Admittedly i am no trd/mr2 know-it-all, i am simply here out of interest because i have heard about what great cars they are. So please, all you people who mock, enlighten me!

Anyways, looks like a decent motor to me. If i had some dosh, I'd consider buying it for sure. :thumleft:

The only official TRD MR2s look like this (35 made):

or like this (less than 100 made):

There are lots of replicas of the former, and for the asking price I guess that's what most people were expecting. But like Shaf said, the only visual identifier on the car is a "Racing Development" sunstrip. It may have some TRD parts fitted - there's a full list of available parts here:

http://trdparts.jp/english/list_mr2.html

...but no specific mention of any of these parts is made in the advert.

** Please note that this reply is intended as a response to Laurinda's request for information, not as an attack on the advertisment. **

Thread split.

This is not an official TRD car, as pointed out by Rogue above. Please, no more about it!
