*%$£@*$! cambelt snapped on me last night!!!! **UPDATE**

Post by Mark Edwards »

Driving quite peacefully at about 40mph along the seafront and suddenly had a complete loss of power. Took a while to realize what had happened, but needless to say, i've really had enough of this car now. Start the bidding. :?

Not nearly long enough for it to fail. I would guess at less than 15k ago.

Hoping the low revs and slightly thicker HG will of saved the valves from the pistons. [-o<

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I remember when mine went was the worst feeling ever.

Im sure the valves were be fine mate as you were only cruising saying that i was only going about 50 mph when mine went but mine didn't snap its was worn away on a bolt slipping 5 teeth  hence why i ate a piston

Sorry to hear that Mark. I'm sure there will be no internal damage. [-o< I bought my old Celica with a cambelt that had broken on the motorway and the engine was fine, I replaced the belt and she ran sweet as a nut (shame about the ton of rust  ).

Am I right in thinking you're running the stock cams still? Think I remember you telling me that at the Eastbourne meet. If so, I would think it would retain the non-interference aspect. Fingers crossed on that!

I know what you mean about it getting you down. Cars have a tendancy to do that don't they. Just depends how much of a gluten for punishment we are.

ahhh Mark  Hard luck fella.

I know how you feel. Everything pulled from under your feet :(

Whether it's interference or not I think is touch and go. Luck of the draw.

If there's anything I can do to help mate just shout.

Mark, gutted for you mate, must be one of the most feared faults...

Mind if I ask which belt you're getting? Stock or uprated...?

Hope it turns out ok [-o<
