Nope, this woudn't be workable I'm afraid.
The load on the server would skyrocket with broswers automatically refreshing pages- the site already is quite busy at peak times.
An alternative- you realise there is an RSS feed which would do nearly the same thing?
You can get the latest posts delivered by RSS to a RSS reader. You could setup your client to poll the IMOC RSS feed every 3-5 minutes - and this would allow you to click through to topics that interested you.
Do a search here on the site for more info on how to set this up.
