can bad radiator flow cause car to overheat constantly????

Post by pccalloutservice »

car has been overheating recently, so i sent the rad to be tested, fella said that there is very poor flow through it and that it would need to be recored or replaced.
bearing in mind i have already replaced thermostat and tried new coolant, if the radiator doesn't fix the problem , could anyone suggest wat i should do next????
other question, could this have anything to do with me changing my turbo a while back,

system flushed awaiting new rad.
i will post tomorrow how i get on with the new rad. fingers crossed!

help appreciated.

Poor flow through the radiator would be a prime candidate for overheating, especially in the recent spat of hot weather. The car relies on fast water flow in order to keep everything cool, the radiator acts as a heat transfer device removing the heat from the engine and dispersing it into the atmosphere. Chances are that if you get the radiator sorted out, then as long as you haven't killed the head gasket, all will be well.

Just hope you didnt do what I did in my old car and pour cold water into an overheating rad, a very quick way to crack the block :(
