Either put it on exactly how it came off
(paint some marks linking the distributer and engine) or get your timing checked when you've finished
(you'll need a timing light though).

He doesn't need to move the dizzy, he's just changing the rotor and cap..

so i dont have to worry about the timing then??? thats only if i replaced the the whole unit right???
i should imagine itll become clear once i receive the 2 parts from mr t, i should get a good idea of how they fit to the car.

no you dont have to worry about the timing.you are leaving the dizzy in situ, while just removing the cap

so all i need to do is unplug the 4 leads from the cap.take one screw off for the cap, and one screw off for the arm, replace the parts, and screw back up again???
will it become alot clearer when ive taken the old cap off what i have to do and how i do it???
also, what can i expect to find in there?? lots of crap and gunk???
cheers peeps!
jimGTS wrote:oh, one more thing.

-Unplug the 4 HT leads and the king lead from the Coil pack
- Remove the 2 screws that hold the cap onto the dizzy
- Pull the dizzy off
- Remove the 1 screw in the center of the rotor
- pull the rotor off
Instalation is reversal or removal(god I sound like a Haynes)
All what you will find in the cap is maybe a bit of dust and you will see that the 4 contacts in the cap(one to each lead) are worn away somewhat
