Who's car is truthfully insured?

Post by steve b »

So who's totally honest, their car has every mod declared, its listed as the correct model, you keep it in a garage as you claim too, its insured as your car in your name, not in your mothers or fathers etc

don't give comment so we have a true picture of how things really work.

Always been truthfull on its use, where kept who uses etc.

Up until now i haven't mentioned all mods being under 21 on a 300+ bhp car ... didn't really work.

Off the road at the moment but when its back on all the body work/wheels etc will be declared ... just unsure on engine mods in there entirity! lol

Basics like the filter/ zorst / "chip" (albeit a Power FC) are declared but said to woman intercooler and for some reason she went "Oooo i'll have to speak to my supervisor!" lol.

Would you bother mentioning a boost controller n that is set at X psi over standard?? Lol, they going to charge a fixed rate for every psi you increase it? hehe

I used to be insured as a GT, non turbo...when I was younger  But a few years back declared it as a turbo, then when all the work was done I told my insurance company about the wheels, bodykit etc and the turbo, exhaust, filter...

My quote, due to living in Chavford or Bradistan as we affectionately call it went up for the first time ever this year to just over 1k fully comp with full no claims at 28years old...garaged (honestly) and cat 1 alarm.

Got a quote at the new address....500 quid ;)

I visit up your way quite a lot - I've got friends in the nightclub business up there - I was amazed how often I've seen cars on low loaders with what looked remarkably like bullet holes in the windscreen... :| I dread to think what insurance must be like there! Best curries I've ever had though

Anyway, my car is truthfully insured - I've haven't started the modding, yet...

I mentioned everything when I bought it but nothing since.

Although thats mainly the unichip, avcr, ct20 and downpipe.
Can yank the two electrical things out if need be and the turbo looks the same and is a Toyota one :)

I may list the avcr and unichip when I re-new this year though.

Wow SB...never seen (thankfully) any shootings up here, wouldn't suprise me though with most locals thinking they were brought up in the ghetto/Bronx.

I'm sure fellow Bradistanians will back me up when I say 'it's grim up north'.

I'm not a Bradistanian but I'm only one postcode away...

Over here in Halifax we prefer stabbings, though there have been a few shootings in these parts. Lovely area.

You guys wanna try living in tottenham then

Hear gunshots every other night. Broadwater farm is round the back of the house bacsically lol.

RE the insurance. The rev 1 tubby I had was modded suspension wise to the max. It came over from Japan like that. As I didn't know exactly what they were it was insured as stock.

I always insure vehicles in the home with the gf as it is in a better area and the difference in quotes is unbelievable!

At this time we have a greater number of dishonest IMOC'ers :-k You'll get no sympathy from me if they catch you and leave you paying to fix your car.

Ive declared everything, which is quite a bit, and my car is a second car so doesn't qualify for no-claims, so I was amazed I got insured at all, a group whatever it is jap import car, loads of mods, 6 points and no NCB, £688 fully comp (I am an old g*t though!).

This year everything is being declared (right down to the ARP's!) fully comp, protected no claims, blacklisted insurance area, just over £1000. Impressive!

I've declared every modification; even down to the anniversary sill plates (which don't affect performance and can't be seen with the doors closed anyway!).

However...just where do you draw the line with regard to informing the insurance company of your mods? Is it down to performance and/or styling mods?

For example, if the MR2 rolled out of the factory with boggo-standard tyres and you replace these with mega-expensive-supa-dupa-grippy tyres, aren't you increasing the performance of the car? What about changing the brake fluid from DOT 4 to DOT 5 - surely you are improving the braking performance of the car?
Mk2 NA Rev1 -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev2 -*- Mk1 NA -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev 3 = all gone!

and what will happen if you have a bad accident which wont enable you to take these parts off?
theyll be going over the car while your in hospital fella......
not only then would insurance be void but you would have to pay for some crazy expenses....public property dmaages, damages to other road users (if you hit anyone).....

i orginally had and hid my mbc last year, but the worry was to much....
to have a shiny avcr, chip is very obvious....turbo maybe not.
