Check they have all the detail right. I don't wanna rub you up the wrong way, but my quote was £800! 22yrs old, 4yrs NCB, car on driveway.

Maybe because they're working the car out to be a 1999 turbo? :?

I'm well please with my quote from them.

Unfortunately conversions are *always* more expensive than standard cars, even if the cars are similar...

you too luke.. I see your time on saturday - must be well chuffed :D

I'm now wondering if they included the NOS that I currently have on it - think I'll ring them again tonight and ask to speak to a BLOKE :P

teehee

PC correct ? moi ?

a lot of people I've spoken too are insuring theirs as standard Import Tubbies - but I'm worried it'll be void if i ever stack it. ??

Simple answer is dont stack it

Phone them again and make sure they have all the details right, when i was looking for insurance i got 4 different quotes off of the same company, it all seems a little random.

If i KNEW I wasn;t going to stack it I'd just insure it as an Import Tubby.. simple as that.. I guess it's only when it's being costed for a write off that they check VIN numbers etc etc..

does anybody know this for sure ?

it does seem stupid that they will insure me for £1050 for an Na with 60bhp nos and mods.. but when i say it will be a totally standard conversion.. no upgrades (yet) - they give me that figure of £1780 !

I'm sure they just pluck numbers randomly out of the air.

UPDATE## just phoned (Brentacre .. thanks to SLACEY for that one) - but regardless of mods as long as the internals are not changed fully comp £950 !

at last a sensible quote <phew> what were Flux thinking about !?!?

Does seem a lot even for a conversion. I'm paying 712, got full no claims, i'm 27 and living in a pretty much crime free part of wales. Thats also with zorst, filter and avcr declared. Flux asr a pain in the ar$e though Frank. The paperwork they want from you is ridiculous AND they try and add another 40 quid policy to your quote which covers you for public t/sport costs if you should be banned from driving. How pointless is that?

Try elephant and declare it as a UK as it is and when it asks you to list mods simply tick the box that says turbocharging, see what you get.

I got a fantastic quote from them with my tubby :)

mate my turbo converted car is covered by flux, took lots of forms, pages & pages of them. But at least i'm now confident it is actually covered as a converted car.

p.s. this may annoy you i'm 27 with 1 year ncb fully comp, oxford, mods declared and covered also trackday cover. £1300

oops just read your replys, £950s better, if flux won't match that at renewal time i'll give brentacre a call 8)

Liverpool Victoria were good for insuring cars with mods but they may have changed their policys on this now, worth a try though.

Try Houghton Insurance,i am insured with them through the mk1 club.

You don't have to be a member of the mk1 club!

They seem to have very good schemes going for Jap cars!

Pete Mason who owns a mk1 sc got a very good qoute, took him from £1900 to £900!!

So they will hopefully be able to sort you out!

somedays I really like them - others I hate them (my 17"ers) - I must be slightly schitzo
