Rev 3 Head - One Exhaust Port Different Size To Others

Post by Jevansio »

I sent a standard Rev 3 turbo exhaust manifold gasket to the chap making my exhaust manifold so he could get the flange made up, he noticed that one of the ports on the gasket is larger than the other 3!!! What is the reasoning behind this??? Does the standard manifold have one runner larger than the others??? Do aftermarket manifolds take this change in port size into account??? Can I ask any more questions in 1 post???

No idea Jay... but Im sure there is some logic behind it. As long as the ports on the manifold match up with the head thats all you need :D

Hi Jay,

I noticed this, as the stock turbo is positioned over towards cyl 1 then the ports have been slightly angled to accomodate this and as cyl 4 is at the far side the port has the most slant on it. Didnt notice the gasket was different but I never measured it, but as its a stock gasket then its likley it was set up like that to match how the car is as stock. The port wont be bigger internally but due to its angle its seems wider.

Cheers
