Since the last pics have not worked on it much as due to the neos nightmare and also bcuz i have been restoring a mk4 escort cabriolet.

But the last 4/5 days have got really stuck into the border bumper.Cut the indicators out again as was not happy with the lines from 1 specific angle.so moved them back 20mm and further in by 14mm.
Also cut and reshaped the vents for the same reason,so it was like i started again #-o .
But atlast it is finally finished other than the normal prep. Not looking forward to it, as the middle section infront of bonnet is bevelled/dipped across the entire bumper were as a border should follow the curve of the car so alot of filling again ](*,) .

This car will unfortunately have to be sold due to how long it as taken due to neos so the border bumper is now removed and itrial fitted a normal TRD bumper on and then proceeded to cut etc etc.
here's the pics.

Here the bumper is about 10mm away from the wings but it touch's in the middle of bonnet

I cut a channel along the front edge which allowed me to push it back to meet the wings, then bonded it back together.

And finally one complete border hybrid and STD TRD in place

Simon that is looking very good with the border stretched to fit. Im impressed :thumleft:

incidentally - has anyone else noticed, on the grey metallic thai one, how the rear arch extensions crease sits higher on the car than any other trd. same for the front arches

EDIT:

change of plan - i want these arches

Cheers Jay,yes I'm liking those arches also.I will be having a play with some STD TRD rear archs once i have played with mould making a bit more :thumleft: .

The hardset is making the wheels look ok due to how much higher the arch is.Have already thought about this problem and believe i have sussed it,but it would require coilovers for it to work properly also.

And even thou it would be75- 100mm lower, ground clearance should still be ok :) JUST lol

If you want details PM me buddy.

Heres some pics of the std TRD bumper after I removed the hybrid.

These are the last pics i took b4 becoming ill so thought i would put them up, in the pics the indicator holes are untouched but they have been cut out and repositioned and made bigger as the indicators wouldn't even fit in the holes and they were slightly wock eyed lol..

there is also a bit more fettling req'd around the h/light covers.

here you go.

Thanks, its apreciated and i am gagging to work on it again properly.I have been cutting the archs, welding them and fabbing a mid pipe for my apexi N1 so that it sits totally square to the trd rear bumper, instead of it sitting underneath and possibly burning the paint off lol.

Just stumbled across this when I was looking through some old threads, are there any finished pics or videos of this car?

thought it was about time for an update on this especially as i am hoping to finish it over the next couple of months, well enough so it can be driven anyway. I was hoping to finish it last year but ran out of time due to weather as was relying on it to do the painting which as kind of backfired on me but more on that later :( .

I decided to make another fuel cap even though i had already done the replacement cover for the aero variety. I was in abit of a rush at the time as was trying to get it ready for paint so didn't go to the extent i went to when i made my last one which i made with filler etc before ditching it. So it does luck abit rough as the inside is mad with modelling plastacine before i moulded it, but the finished item is nice an smoothh after prepp lol. heres some pics.

filling the hole

making the mountings

trial fitment

and finished

due to the huge time frame that the car was left i decided to take the qtrs back down to metal and re-prep

Image

Image

Image

I knew that i hadn't got enough time last year to get the qtrs done intime for paint so i made the mistake of getting what panels i could do ready and painted them which at the time was the doors ,front wings, rear bumper and side skirts as i had more than enough paint and i always thoroughly mix it before painting. this is were it as slightly backfired on me as i have just recently finished the rear qtrs and started to put the car back together but unfortunatly there is a shade difference once i colour sanded and polished.

due to funds i will just have to put up with it till next year which is a bit of a pain in the ar$e.Still got to do the front bumper and rear spoiler, roof and bonnet. Most of those is what i hope to do over the next month.

yeh its been along time with alot of the bumps on the way but hoping its sorted soooon, just abit miffed about the paint but suppose another year won't hurt considering the current timeframe #-o

As for stevies colour, well i spotted a pic a week or so ago and you could of blew me over with a feather lol, made me chuckle at the same time though. Went for this colour cuz never seen a 2 in it never mind a trd kitted one and now theres 2 nearly identical ones lol.

all i can say is stevies got a good eye for trd colouring :thumleft:

This is possibly the longest running project that I have seen on here
Congrats for staying with it though, it is definitely looking good and turning the corner now.

When's the estimated finish date?
Keep the updates coming...

I'm eventually looking to get a project car like this once I sort out a garage extension *goes to eBay to look for a widebody project* :thumleft:
