isle of man weekend - august 2006

Post by hicks »

i know august is a fair bit away but want to organise a weekend away over at the isle of man and want to gauge interest to sort out accomadtion ferrys etc within plenty of advance.

i have nothing set in stone at the moment but ideally would like to do it in august this year.

we could either camp over there, stay in a b&b or even a hotel and would be looking at staying 2 night, i.e. go over saturday morning, stay sat and sun night and come back over late monday.

there will be lots of drinking, fast driving around the manx tt, and some of the tarmac manx rally sections aswell as fantastic veiws and general good times.

interested partys put your name forward and add your veiws on the idea so i can sort something to suit everyone.

kind regards

alex.

right,

ferry will be about £130
accomadtion is between £25-30 per night so £60 for a nice b&b
plus food and petrol.

if you budget for £300 you wont be far off.

if there is enough interest i will try and book as a group to get cheaper rates but i think we will need to be quick as this is peak season and will be booked up fast.

check this link for accomadation, the one with the ticks deffenetly have rooms available for the dates mentioned above.

another slight update to let you guys know whats happening.

ive contacted a couple of ferry companys regarding a group booking aswell as ten b&bs/hotels to see what sort of deals i can work out and get somemore solid figures.

as soon as i have more information i will get back to you and we will get things moving so we can get the ferry and accomadation booked.

My dad works as a travel journalist and has strong links with the Seacat ferry service... I'll say if we can get ten cars up for this, how much would the ferry be PP... I'll get back to u in a bit, he's in Spain atm writing about Jumilla and the Alicante. Git.

had a few responses from the emails i sent.

a couple of hotels said they are fully booked while a few more have rooms available at around £50 per night with £25 reservation fee required per room.

i also had a reply from one of the ferry companys who quoted £144 return trip but cant do group discount.

the best option i seem to have found is camping over there. i had a reply for £9.50 per night which is a campsite in douglas whichis the biggest town on the island so should be good for night life and will seriously reduced the cost being less than £20 for the 2 nights.

let me know what you think. could be looking at ferry and accomadtion for the weekend for less than £150.
