Wastegate - Confussed

Post by adamshaw »

Hi there, Just a quick question on wastegates:

Read the article on turbos from other post, very interesting. So basically a wastegate gets rid of excess boost.

Therefore do all MR2 Turbo's have one as standard? if so where is it?

Thanks

Hi mate.

The ct 20 and 26 have a integral wastegate which is opened by the acuator when the said amount of boost is reached, its located on the exhaust side of the turbo and hidden by the downpipe, its job is to release unwanted boost direct into the downpipe.
