Whats involved in fitting a GT4 chargecooler to my Rev 3 turbo.

What parts do i need and does anything need to be removed from the car?

hi james,

i've not long bought a gt4 charge cooler for my rev 2 turbo. it's the st205 version which is the perfect match for your rev 3. there is a couple of things that need removing from what i seen when i had a look. boost pipes to and from intercooler, the intercooler itself too. on mine some of the throttle body has to be removed but its only 4 bolts. the hardest part from what everyone else says is removing the front bumper to mount the radiator!!!

the whole installation is meant to be time consuming, allow a day i was told but its well worth the trouble and a good mod for the car.

good points are cooler, denser inlet air allowing more boost and fuelling but keeping the engine safe i think.

i'll be fitting mine over the christmas holidays along with downpipe, manifold safcII and avcr so i'll let you know how i get on.

another glasgow dude  Do a search on charge coolers and you'll find loads of info, its just a matter of doing your research but as stevo says the gt4 cooler lines up perfect with the rev3+ BUT

you'll need either the GT4 throttle sock or you'll have to modify the throttle body on the rev3 as its too long to fit into the cooler.

After that it's a water pump, radiator and loads of swearing

Thanks for the replies - I have read loads on this, but still have more questions.

Are there any recommended radiators /water pumps / recommended places to mount these?

Is there a site with a detailed install guide? - As I cannot find one!

Has anyone in or near Glasgow got one installed I could have a look at?

Thanks

hi again,

i have the celica water pump but people say the davies craig is a good one to use, i have the fiat cinquicento radiator for mine which is a very common choice but there is another one available too, it'll be posted on here somewhere.

as for the mounting, most tend toput iton the inside of the front wheel arch i think as the lower the better.

radiator obviously mounts at the front.

i'll take pictures as i'm doing mine and e-mail them to u.

personally I'd wire in an air temp gauge too. Just make sure it's a fast acting sensor / display
