momo problem

Post by Retribution »

Ok tried to fit my boss kit for my momo but ran into a problem my car is a rev 1 turbo import and when i got the wheel off and tried to fit the boss kit the long thin plastic connector horn part is in the way
Question is do i have to snap it off and lose my horn (is it illegal to drive without 1 and a mot failure?) as i'm not sure what to do.
The momo im trying to fit is the r850 i think this is the actual 1 i won on ebay.

Ignore the boss kit it came with i bought my own for the rev 1

I'm getting one of these wheels from Dan @ DCDezign - he tells me there are two different types of boss but the car is not here at the moment so I can't check which one I have. Here's what he sent in an email:

"If you are a J reg then you could in fact be one of two different hub. You need to check really to be on the safe side. You can tell which you are by lifting off the horn cover on the steering wheel and having a look underneath the horn push. You will either see a plug the size of a small match box pointing towards you out from the steering column. or a circular contact for the horn."

So I guess you could have the wrong one, I'd give Dan a shout as he's very helpful.

sounds like you have the wrong momo hub.
contact Dan at Dcdezign (affiliates) and he should be able to source the one you are after. The correct one has a cutout that fits over the horn connector.

sounds like u need the "supposably" rev 2+ momo boss!

sounds strange but this is the 2nd time i've heard of needing a rev 2+ boss on a rev 1 :?

i got a rev 1 boss here for sale, but it seems no one ever needs the one i have

if you have the 1 that fitted the horn as well id have had it mate
Could be a good idea if someone puts a sticky up for a while with the diffrent codes on the rubber of the boss kit since there is so much confusion over what boss kit goes on what car its a nightmare

I just cut a section out of my boss to allow the plastic clip as return wasn't really an option!
