Most quiet exhaust for tubby?

Post by D3xt3r »

Hello

What is the most quiet exhaust for a Turbo I can get?

I know about the Fujitsubo ones but they seem like the cant flow enought gasses for my application. I will be running a Gen3 Turbo with an turbo around the size of an TD06 and over 300rwhp so I will need 3". But I want the most quiet operation I can get.

Mongoose isn't too loud. It is a bit 'boomey' in the car at lower revs but noting too much.

I went for one of those as they flow well and they are know for being not too loud and give a nice exhaust note!

The Mongoose is already too much for me with an downpipe. And I dont like this broomy sound. I'm pussy when it comes to loud noises and I dont want to be get my neighbours against me ;)

You could never describe Hayward & Scott as quiet!...
Well ok... Maybe compared to a NUR Spec.

For my reccomendation, I would like to put forward:

I have an EXE - Altair Straight-through exhaust on my Rev3 Turbo:
www.altair-inc.co.jp

It is made from 80mm thick Stainless, which unfortunately makes it comparatively heavy...

It has a main silencer similar size to stock, and a small pre-silencer.

I have had the opportunity to compare sound level to my OEM exhaust on a Dyno - and they are the same.

Trouble is, I bought it S/H and have no idea where you could order one from!

I would leave the stock one but a. the car i bought hasnt a stock exhaust and b. the stock one is pretty restrictive.

EDIT: And i prefer a dual setup one left and one right.

Hayward and Scott make them to order and to specification - you tell the the max Db you want, single or dual exit - you name it they will make to order.

they have the Turbo MK2 blueprints on file so they do not need your car if i remember correctly.

HTH mate.

cheers

I can track down any of my suppliers that offers Altair Exhausts and it seems like they only offer the Super Sound for the MR2.
