are double din units any good?

I've got one and it's great... nice display on it, picks up all english radio, plus had the benefit of having Minidisc aswell as a cd.. Great in my opinion :P

anyonehad any probs fitting these, eg wiring/facia parts etc be good to know of any problems before i start

They are the same as any single DIN one... As easy to fit! Sometimes the frame needs some work, but that's done in a minute!
I've installed a VW navigation system last week sin a friend's MR2. Those are also Double DIN and fit without probs!

marky, did the fitment come with a cage like single units or do they hold in the hole by other means, eg screws / plates / etc =D> >

My double din cam with the brackets to secure the double din to the stock mount positions :wink:

removal of trim

did you have to remove the radio trim etc to fit the supports........cheers richie
