Finally installed my new Alpine MP3 player

Post by bpascua »

Hello,

So I just finished installed my headunit. It looks nice and sounds a good deal better than the toyota unit. The HU sits totally flush and as expected the suround for the facia doesnt quite sit right but you cant really tell and it doesnt interfere with the removal of the facia so I am quite happy. Total costs.

Hu - £137
lead - £10
ariel adaptor - £4 (ouch!)
toyota pocket - £17

Saved myself £40 installation costs by DIY. Its not so hard but I have a poor track record!

Hello Graham,

The ariel adaptor is becasue some ariel leads hanging out of the back of steroeo's are male and some are female. I think different manufacturers favour differnet types. So the ariel from your car is always the point type right, so coming out of my alpine was a similar looking thing. So I needed an adaptor to convert it and make it fit. Be careful as when you disconnect the hazard switch your indicators wont work anymore - so make sure you got all the bits before you start.

Cheers

Disconnecting the hazard switch? Do you mean when taking the dash apart?

Ive done that lots of times, just not changed the stereo lol, thanks for the advice though, much appreciated :D

Yep - when you take the plastic dash pannel out you have to unplug the hazard button. But it scuppers your indicators! probvably a broken circuit or something.
