Anyone recognise this rev 3 turbo? New acquisition

Say hello to 'Hollywood'

You may have seen it on eBay, near Falkirk as a non-runner.
It's had a rod go through the block after the lad I bought it from xxxxx up a rebuild it never needed.

It is a bit tatty as expected, so I am unsure what to do with at at this stage, but for what I paid it was well worth the 300 mile round trip.
:D

I would say it looks to have been a track car, it has a FG bootlid with CF skin and looks to have had a Fast and Furious style alu wing on there at some stage and has some Poundland/Raceland seats.

Anyone seen it being raped around Knockhill?

Also, I would have preferred to strap the wheels down 'properly' but the loops for my new straps are about a metre long ffs!

It looks an awful lot like one that was advertised on Pistonheads a couple years ago for a "bargain" price with a problem list longer than the 'good bits' list.

Tell me more lol
I thought it was the one belonging to a lad from Newcastle at first, as it is very similar.

It isn't that car, though.

My mind is fairly made up that I will.be breaking it when I get around to it.

Don't know it, but it seems a real shame to break it. Looks smart!

Reg number is fairly similar to mine, must've been imported by the same company!

Is the shell relatively rust free? If so maybe someone can use it for a re-shell?

Cheers, all.
The shell is decent, yeah. The paint is a bit tatty though, so that makes me think about breaking it.
I agree it is a shame, but I have saved it from probably being hiabed onto a Transit and baled in a oner.

If I do break, I will advertise the shell, but they rarely seem to sell?

Race Idiot, do you call yours Hollywood, too? (Blame previous owner)

A T-Bar is worth even less as a bare or rolling shell?

Shouldn't make a difference if it's solid. Rust free is key, tin top or T bar.

Whole rev 2 turbo rust free shell excellent condition. Knackered head bottom end good. Gearbox solid.

Couldn't give it away. Actually really struggled to even get a scrapyard to take it. In the end a mate of a mate did it for me.

Still had most of the interior too

Plus hubs, arms, now I think about it.... most of the car.

That's my mate Kris' old one. He flogged it running for £1500 with mega high miles then it appeared for sale with 80k on the clock. Thread on here somewhere about it. It was being sold for £4000 or something with dodgy history.

Interesting, did you start the thread, dude? I will try and find it.
Clocks say 65K atm and it has a bit of paperwork with it. Displaying 85K when imported in 2003.

It was showing 129k when MOT'd in Feb 2011, and then 57k in Oct 2013 according to the MOT checker.
Maybe it just had the clocks changed?

I bought it from a lad called Stewart in Linlithgow. I only gave him £500, so I'm happy enough, but any history, good or bad would be welcome!

No somebody else did when it was up for sale for £4k. I've text Kris to see if he can add any more info in here for you. I believe it was a tidyish car when he had it but he only bought it to flip it I think. It wasn't his "main" Mr2 I know that much.

Just to add, when it was for sale for silly money it was listed as having comprehensive history to verify the mileage. Something we knew to be impossible. Several members messaged the seller about this and he just maintained he had all the proof etc. Kris sold it with no history or MoTs as far as I know. Hence knowing the service history etc couldn't have been genuine. The seller you've bought it from is not the same guy as the car did sell. It was a trader in The dinburgh I believe.

Me and Glen N went to see this a few years back, think it was Perth and it was an Eastern European lad that owned it..
When I test drove it, it wasn't running right, lots of missing pieces and dodgy patch ups and side skirts covering dodgy sills so we left it even when we were told we could have it for £1500, but Tbf the owner knew it was a rat and didn't try to hide anything, it did come up for sale a few months later by someone else at a much higher price as above with lots of false information.
It was either going to be a project for us or used as a donor car for our own ones but i didnt think it worth the hassle even at £1500

Cheers for the reply, mate. I don't think the lad I bought it from knew much about it or had removed the skirts at any time etc.
It will break well enough, imo.
