That is Simon from on here...
i have been out with him, he knows how to drive his car quickly... no real squeeky moments.. his car likes to go sideways and he knows how to drive it side ways.. (he runs in TSS and Javelin sprints with me)

But i also say in my mk2 na (fully stripped caged track car).. round silverstone in the wet.. went past a R35 he tried keeping up and then he spun

The r35 is a more than capable car of trouncing both.. but its the drivers of these cars tend to let them down i feel

You can see the gtr driver was a novice... vs tune Mr2 with semi slick and a good driver there only so much a car can do.

Glad you guys like the video.

The GTR is the faster car ultimately (has twice the power for a start!). The driver was ok, what I'd consider a normal trackday standard. I have yet to meet a GTR on track which was really on it or faster then the mr2.

As mentioned tyres do make a difference to laptimes, normally 2-3 seconds a lap depending the track. What I will say is OEM GTR tyres are heading towards semi slicks type anyway. What I will say around grip levels is whilst i'd expect the MR2 to sustain around 1g GTR would most likely be up around 1.1 - 1.2g.

Regarding the MR2 strenghts vs others. Brakes have to be no.1 ... with the right setup and commitment your not too far off caterhams, other things would be agility and putting the power down.

I can see what you mean brakes and handling make the real difference and your killing him in the corners but gtr power kills you in the straights away...

I know the gtr is really bad in the rain on tight corners but i thought the mr2 would be worse... you make it look so easy.

so someone who can pedal his car going maximum attack is faster than someone out for a sunday drive in his R35, and an audi on skinny(ish) all weather tyres has more wet grip than an R35 on fat summer tyres.. surprise?! what next - YZ250 faster than R35 GTR around muddy field?
