Hi all
Been out of the scene for a few years and was wondering who is the current go to company for aftermarket parts and tuning advice?
Been doing a bit of digging around and ATS in the states have some nice bits but wondering if there's any uk based places anymore?

Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
I think we need more info on what you're trying to accomplish. Plenty of UK companies about for performance parts.
Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
Well you can start with piston. I bought these and use them in my car.

Do you know who sells full turbo kits?
I only know one option.

Thank you for the links Nic. I was walking when I asked... And forgot to say within the UK. It's good to know that we have more choices!

Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
Tuning developments are pretty familiar with the 3sgte, although mainly in celicas. I've bought some engine bits from them and theyve been pretty good.

Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
As above would help to know what your goal is, some people want bolt on parts ie intake, exhaust, intercooler etc
Some want tuning
Fensport are 1 company I know that do both, have a range of parts on their website and also do tuning

Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
Hi
Thanks for the replies so far, sorry should have thought to put a bit more detail, engine current,y been forge built, turbo capable of 550bhp but looking to settle between 400/500bhp.
looking for
Clutch
Injectors/rail/pump
Inlet manifold
Charge cooler although I'm probably settling on a PWR Setup.
Thanks again

I've got a 650hp rated PWR chargecooler, mapped to around 500fwhp and it does a really good job
If it was a few months down the line I might have made a decision whether I'm going a new setup and have it up for sale
Inlet manifold I haven't got but I've seen ones available from - Ross Machine Racing, Racer X, ATS amongst others.
Clutch - OS Giken is getting a lot of good reviews in the other thread (also that's what I use)
If I was you looking for that sort of power/build id be speaking to some specialists/tuners and getting their opinions on the best setup for your goals

Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
My other worry is that how drivable will a 500bhp mr2 be?
Will it be breaking traction on boost all the time and become unreliable and start breaking other things?
Don't want to spend a shed load of money and be ultimately unhappy with it.

Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
What's in the list for what you're having done now?
If being forged you should be buying
Fuel pump (easier to put in whilst everything out)
New clutch as gearbox off
Just to start......
Don't forget engine management - that''s anything from £1k upwards tuned.

You're seeing sense honestly even if you get that 500bhp you'll get bored of it.
I have a 350bhp + final map coming soon, but as it is now i can't use it's full potential here's my build
Wosser pistons 8.0.1, standard rods
GT 3076r standard manifold 38mm WG
800cc sard injectors
Phoenix Power SMIC
Aquamist S3 water injection controlled by the ECU
Link G4 Storm 4 bar map sensor
Bottom line is, i think 400bhp is enough for road use. If it's a drag car then by all means
Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
I use mines on the road and I'm around 500hp however I have my boost off most of the time which is somewhere in the region of 370-380hp and it's fine, on my high setting traction does break all the way through to 4th gear..
BUT currently my geometry is way out and suspension isn't set up properly which doesn't help, and my tyres are normal road tyres, the rears having around 2mm tread left so that doesn't help either!
I've got semi slicks to go on and from everything I've read they are a must on the road at that sort of power!
There will be a few different types of 500hp, my boost comes on late (starts around 4200rpm) as the turbo is quite big, but I'm willing to sacrifice that as i do plan on more power and taking it to the drag strip next year, sounds like what you are after is quicker spool
You can always have a couple of boost settings and an off boost option so just because you have 500hp doesn't mean you need to use it

Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
Traction does not seem to be an issue for me. I only put my foot down on straight roads. Although I'm not sure my whp, that's due soon.
Driving the car is fine. Sure the cams make the car slightly less smooth when cruising, again hoping s map tweak can sort this. But driving around it almost like a normal mr2. Until you hit the loud pedal, I'm looking to have adjustable boost set up so its not always at 2.1 bar. I don't need that much power all the time.
What's your budget I'm sure people would love to put a spec together for you?

Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
I'd hope it's about £8k
Re: Mr2 turbo tuning parts
Right so the plan is thus so far
Engine built with
86.5 cp Pistons
Eagle rods
Planned bits to buy are
PWR chargcooler dependant on if I can fit it in the location I want
Borg Warner EFR Turbo Kit
1000cc ID injectors with fuel rail and 450lt/h fuel pump
Been recommended a 6puk clutch kit by the engine builders
ATS inlet manifold
Already running power fc before rebuild.

I'm guessing the rest of the engine will be built up to a decent spec and not just pistons and rods?
I'd add:
Uprated radiator to help with cooling.
Throttle body.
Exhaust manifold maybe?
Before doing all that I'd go round and check your bushes and joints are all good throughout full car and also get decent brakes and tyres.
Out of curiosity where are you planning on having your charge cooler?
