Walbro fuel pump

Post by Odin_S »

Hi i know I'm not doing myself any favors, been reading about Walbro 255 (which I have) reliability. I also reading bosch 044 fuel is more reliable although it's not in tank.

My car is pretty much complete and working well, i want to keep it this way. What are other people's opinions?

Why Fix something that's not broken ?

If you think how many walbros have been sold, law of averages dictate there will be a small percentage failing after some time, with the then breakdown of that vehicle the owner is going to vent hence you hearing about it more than other things that break.
Saying that, how many of these failing pumps are even genuine ?

At the end of the day the pumps are cheap and can be changed in an afternoon, if it makes you feel more comfortable about your build go for it :thumleft:

I've heard they are very reliable. Used on pretty much every pump upgrade

If you use the neoprene sleeve and rubber bottom mount they're not noisy either. Though I would say there are much better pumps on the market imo.

Mine has been good. But heard there are fake ones floating about so just pay out and buy a genuine once and be done with it.

Likewise, I had a Walbro 255 on the Supra for 10 years without any problems.
