lambda sensor wiring

Post by masterbateson »

Does anyone with the engine bay open possibly know the colour code/wiring for the lambda sensor?
I am looking for the wiring for the one at the top of the exhaust system just after the wastegate.

Some bodger who plumbed in this engine into the car before me has cobbled together some of the wiring with the wrong and bad connectors.

The crap crimp he had put on the top lambda sensor has come off so I need to locate the correct wire/plug to connect it back too.

Anyone know if you can get the proper Toyota plugs anywhere also.

Not asking for much but if you could post a pic of the connector and wiring it would be very greatfully received.

What car model and year is it for?

The plugs are not listed on the EPC only the complete wiring looms, however I have a pdf file that lists all the Toyota plugs with part numbers. On the plug should be printed the first 5 digits of the part number, you can then locate the correct plug and full 10 digit part number in the file.

I've uploaded the pdf file here http://www.pdf-archive.com/2016/03/01/toyota-plugs/

Anyone poss got a pic of the wiring if they have their head in the engine bay today please?

I suspect it may be blue and white wiring, also if you happen to be in is it a grey plug with two of these coloured wires going in?

I'll try and take a pic later of what I've got and what I'm trying to track down.

Thanks for that! :thumleft:

Slightly worrying is the fact that the wire coming off the top lambda sensor seems to be only 1 wire?

Is this normal? and its black so I have a heater and not a sensor according to that link, how odd

early models im pretty sure only have a single wire lambda sensor they didn't go to 4 wire heated sensors until rev 3 onwards.

and if it's a universal sensor then connecting the wire to the cars loom plug with a crimp is fairly normal and an acceptable way to do it, the wires in lambda sensors are difficult to solder and soldered connections can breakdown due to vibration

I was thinking if it originally was a plug and socket arrangement for connection I would quite like to reinstate it back to original if poss.
Think I have it connected back up to the right wire but????

Use a multimeter on continuity or ohms and test the plug you think it is back to the ox pin in the diagnostic port or at the ecu itself
